Success is very subjective. It can be whatever you want it to be. If your idea of success is getting a full night’s sleep, that’s completely fine!
But today, the kind of success I am going to be talking about is success in terms of working women. Entrepreneurs. Business owners. Influential women. Women who, in my eyes, have it together.
I became obsessed with reading up about the daily routines of the women I look up to; women like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama, J.K Rowling, Jennifer Lopez (and many more).
What I found, was that they actually share a lot of the same habits! And thus the idea for this post was born.
1.They work on personal development
Having goals is great, but in order to reach those goals, you need to have a personal development plan. Plain and simple.
Working towards something first means you have to work on yourself. Personal development is a huge part of many daily routines of successful women. If you’re not constantly improving yourself, you are just staying stagnant and not progressing.
2.They are not afraid of saying “no”
Successful women know what they want, and what they will not settle for. To them, saying no to something they’re not interested in or something that will not get them to where they want to go is just second nature.Learning how to say no is a habit of theirs because they know that their time is precious. They know that the more time they spend on things, events and people that don’t matter, the less time they will have to work towards their goals and dreams.
3.They set boundaries
One of the crucial habits of successful women is setting healthy boundaries. That means knowing what they stand for, what they are willing to sacrifice, and how they let others influence their decision-making.
Setting boundaries will help you in being clear about what you want, and you will be able to work on your vision without unnecessary disturbances from those who you don’t let influence you.
4.They never stop learning
Learning is an on-going process for every successful woman for a few reasons. There is always something new to learn. Things are always changing, technology is always improving, and trends are always coming and going. Furthermore, to assume that you don’t need to learn anything new is just foolish because it will deter you from your goals. If you’re not willing to improve your skills, how are you going to reach what you’re after?
5.They learn from their failures
A part of learning and trying new things is going through moments of failure.
I can almost guarantee that no successful woman has had it easy. However, they look at failures as learning curves. Bumps in the road are always going to happen, and it is up to you to take it as a lesson learned and move on. Besides, a part of success is knocking on multiple closed doors until you get to the one you are meant to open
6.They’re financially savvy
Successful women not only make good money, but they also know what to do with this money once they earn it. A lot of them have also come from very humble beginnings, which goes to show that everybody can learn and master money management.
There is definitely an art to being financially savvy and it includes many healthy money habits such as budgeting, saving, investing and making more money.
Here are some of my favorite books on money management:
The Richest Man In Babylon
The Total Money Makeover
Rich Dad Poor Dad
7.They keep themselves organized
Being organized is key in all successful women’s daily routines. A successful woman organizes her time because she knows that her time is precious.
Some things that can help you stay organized and on top of things are:
planning out your days
making to-do lists
keeping a tidy space
decluttering when needed
8.They take care of their health
Successful women know that health is wealth.
In addition to eating healthy and making exercise a daily habit, success also comes from keeping a healthy mind. Meditating, taking time off when you need it and taking care of your mental health are all as important as your physical health.
9.They keep the right company
The company you keep is a huge factor in your success. I once heard a quote somewhere that said, “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” and I wholeheartedly agree.
You want to be around people you can learn from. People who have positive energy. People who you will want to become like. Because if you are constantly around those who are negative and have crappy habits, they will rub off on you and deter you from your goals!
10.They have a positive attitude
Last but certainly not least, successful women swear by having a positive attitude.
Being positive and looking at the bright side will help you combat negative self-talk, as well as teach you to not dwell on the less-than-stellar situations in your life. You will be able to use your negative experiences as lessons learned, and move on.
